Edward (Ted) Durbin

In the Arctic several years ago in front of the icebreaker Polar Sea and on top of Mt Taranaki (8,241 ft), NZ.

Ted is a kiwi who grew up near Kaitaia, New Zealand. He has been at URI for some time publishing his first paper in 1971 about dinoflagellate life cycles. He has since worked on in many areas of biological oceanography from zooplankton to fish, to right whale-zooplankton interactions. The present project stems from an interest in using molecular techniques to unravel zooplankton feeding ecology in situ and from an interest in zooplankton and fish bioenergetics.

Thank you Ted and Maria for helping Iain and Michelle celebrate their URI graduation in Antarctica! What a wonderful memory and experience! We really appreciate you making their day so special. Safe travels, John and Laurie McCoy
